Hertz Italy Charges $1,135 Deposit Despite Full Coverage Purchased on Booking.com

I rented a car from Hertz in Italy via Booking.com for the dates July 2–6. I picked up the vehicle in Rome and returned it in Bologna. During the rental booking, I specifically purchased full protection insurance against potential risks and took delivery of the vehicle under that assurance.

Following the return of the vehicle, I was told that damage amounting to around €120 had occurred. However, despite this, a deposit of approximately $1,135 (€1,038) was charged to my credit card, and not a single penny of this amount has been refunded to me. Looking at the damage report sent to me, I see a deduction of approximately €847.24 reflected; however, I believe this directly contradicts both the terms shared with me during rental and the full protection insurance I purchased.

For about a month, I have been sending messages to both Booking.com and Hertz, but I receive no response whatsoever. Despite having purchased full protection insurance, I do not accept such a high deduction without a clear explanation.

I demand a detailed, written explanation of this excessive deduction taking into account my full protection insurance, a full refund of the amount I consider unjustified, and necessary action regarding this communication breakdown to resolve my hardship.
