I have comprehensive coverage with Geico. But when I filed a claim, they said the damage wasn't covered. What is that?

Comprehensive coverage with Geico typically protects your car from non-collision-related damages such as theft, vandalism, fire, weather events, animal collisions, and falling objects. However, there are exclusions to this coverage. For example, it does not cover normal wear and tear, collision damage (which requires separate collision insurance), mechanical breakdowns, acts of war or terrorism, or intentional damage.

If Geico denied your claim, you should contact their claims department for a detailed explanation. Review your policy documents to understand specific exclusions and limitations. If the denial reason is unclear, ask for further clarification and references to the specific policy clauses.

If you believe the denial is unjust, you can file an appeal, providing evidence to support your claim. Alternatively, you can try negotiating a partial settlement. To avoid future issues, consider additional coverage if certain risks, like floods, are a major concern in your area.
