On July 15, 2025, I made a reservation through Economybookings.com to rent a car in Palermo, Italy. I went to the designated pickup location at the scheduled time, and I had my valid Turkish driver’s license, passport, and a credit card with sufficient available limit. Despite having all required documents, the vehicle was not handed over to me, on the grounds that I did not have an international driver’s license.
I tried to explain the situation and look for a solution, but I received no support whatsoever. Moreover, the reservation was marked as a “no-show”, and no refund was issued. This is completely inaccurate, as I was physically present at the pickup location, on time, and with all my documents. This report is factually incorrect and clearly violates consumer rights.
When making the reservation, there was no clear or explicit warning stating that an international driver’s license was mandatory. Throughout the entire process, adequate and clear information was not provided, which caused me to be unfairly disadvantaged.
I contacted the company’s customer service via email, but they failed to offer any solution. I suffered both a loss of time and money.
I am requesting a full refund of the amount I paid. Otherwise, I would like to state that I will escalate this issue to the Consumer Arbitration Committee and international consumer protection authorities.
