Chevrolet Cruze Service Bill Was Much Higher Than Quoted

I took my 2011 Chevrolet Cruze to Alkaya Opel service center in Bornova 2nd Industrial Area on July 15 because of an engine problem. During our initial discussion, I was told that the engine repair would cost approximately $1,445–$1,651. They ordered parts and installed them on the engine, but later told me that the engine had not been fixed and would have to be removed again, and that the cost could now be at least $3,095 or even higher.

Because of this uncertainty and the increasing costs, I decided to have a brand-new crate engine installed instead of repairing my original engine. I was told, “If you purchase the engine yourself, I will charge you $825 for labor.” Since the engine itself cost $1,857, I agreed to the work expecting my total cost to be around $2,683. However, when I went to pick up the vehicle on August 5, I was presented with a bill of $1,816 for engine labor and parts, and this amount was demanded from me. I had never been informed during the process that such a high additional cost would be charged, and I was forced to pay $1,651. If I had known that the cost would be this high, I would have chosen to have my original engine repaired instead.

In addition, the service center told me that my vehicle's cooling fan was running extremely fast and that I should not drive the vehicle in that condition, but no repair was performed regarding this issue. When I later showed the vehicle to other mechanics, they told me that there was no problem with the fan system itself, but that the thermostat was stuck closed and that this was causing the fan to operate irregularly.

Throughout this entire process, I believe the pricing was not transparent from the beginning, that I was later charged a high amount for labor and parts without being properly informed, and that the issue with the vehicle's cooling system was also not resolved. I request that the financial loss I have experienced regarding the amount I paid be addressed and that all work performed, particularly the labor and parts charges, be reviewed again in detail and assessed fairly and reasonably.
