On February 5, 2026, I placed an order on the Carrefour online website with the delivery option “Size Getirelim”, under order number 200053787. The total amount for 21 items, approximately $47 USD, was charged in full to my credit card. The delivery date was scheduled for February 6, 2026, between 4:30 PM and 7:30 PM.
On February 6, 2026, at 12:13:59 PM, I was contacted via Carrefour’s 444 10 00 customer service line and informed that my order would not be delivered. Initially, an incorrect and misleading reason was given, claiming that my address was “outside the country.” My address is Tunalı Hilmi Street No:109/**, Çankaya / Ankara, and Carrefour has successfully delivered to this address many times in the past.
Later, after contacting Carrefour’s head office, I was informed that my order had been canceled by the Carrefour SA branch located at Güvenevler Neighborhood, Güvenlik Street, Yeşilyurt Street No:26/A, Çankaya / Ankara, on the grounds that my address was allegedly “outside their delivery area.” However, this branch is only about a 20-minute walking distance from my address.
Head office representatives stated that “branches have the right to cancel orders.” This approach renders Carrefour’s systems meaningless and creates a situation of complete arbitrariness and uncertainty for consumers.
Furthermore, because my order was canceled, when I attempted to place the same order again, I was informed that 7 of the 21 items were now out of stock. These items had been available at economically advantageous prices at the time of my original order. As a result, I was also deprived of the price advantage.
In summary:
The order was accepted
Payment was collected
The order was arbitrarily canceled
When I tried to reorder, products were no longer in stock
This is not a simple delivery issue; it is a clear case of consumer harm.
