I booked a 2-night stay on Chios Island through Booking.com about 1-1.5 months in advance for the Bayram holiday. A week before our vacation, my spouse fell and broke their ankle. Since it was only a week away, the free cancellation period had ended. However, considering the medical emergency, I decided to try my luck and informed Booking.com about my spouse's condition. They responded within 24 hours, stating they couldn’t reach the hotel and advised me to contact the hotel directly.
During this time, I reached out to the hotel via Instagram, WhatsApp, and email, sending the doctor’s report and X-ray images, but the hotel never responded. I informed Booking.com assistants about this issue, and they also confirmed that they couldn't reach the hotel. Why is a hotel that cannot be contacted listed on Booking.com? They couldn't reach the hotel for an entire week. I also filed a complaint with Booking.com, but they never responded.
This experience has left me frustrated and questioning the reliability of Booking.com when dealing with emergencies and unresponsive hotels.
