BetterUp Pressured Me Into a Sale and Made Me Doubt Their Coaching Ethics
BetterUp disappointed me so much that I started to doubt their ethics and methods. The first sales contact sounded more like a hard-sell for a subscription service than like a discussion about tailored coaching. The representative was so aggressive that I felt as though I was under pressure to purchase a TV package or gym membership instead of making professional development investments. I almost registered, but after more company investigation I stopped. Former staff members' reviews presented a concerning picture: poor pay, a high-stress sales environment, and regular layoffs. Worse, it appears the corporation spends lavishly in celebrity sponsorships while undervaluing its employees or improving the availability of their products. I'm glad I trusted my instincts as it feels like a brand more concerned on appearance than on value.
