Though I registered for BetterHelp in search of a therapist with particular training, the entire procedure made me uncomfortable. Before even seeing a therapist, I was not precisely informed I would be locked into a four-week subscription, which felt like a large step without knowing what I was truly getting into. The fact that nothing is known about the therapists personally troubled me more. I searched for someone with advanced, accredited training in a certain therapeutic approach, but all I came across were nebulous terms like "trauma-focused" or "psychodynamic" without any actual evidence of credentials. A short course and complete certification differ greatly, and I would like that this be more abundantly evident. BetterHelp truly ought to be more honest.
