Arçelik Toaster Stopped Working Before 7 Years Were Up
Although the Arçelik toaster I purchased in 2018 was not damaged in any way, it stopped working when I plugged it in. We took it to the authorized service center, where they explained that the internal components had dried out, the issue with the cable was not due to user error, and this happens when the device remains plugged in. However, we only kept it plugged in while making toast and always unplugged it afterward, so there was no misuse. They demanded a repair fee of ₺1800 and informed us that if we chose not to proceed with the repair, we would still need to pay a ₺300 damage assessment fee. We had no choice but to leave it for repair. A few days later, the service team called and informed us that the necessary parts could not be supplied, stating that the service life of small household appliances is 7 years and thus they couldn’t replace the parts—asking us to come and collect the product. At the time of purchase, there was no information provided regarding this 7-year usage limit, and when I raised this issue with the service center, I received an unpleasant response: “Then contact the place where you purchased it.” The refrigerator, washing machine, tea maker, and now the toaster we bought from Arçelik have all broken down within 7 years, and we’ve had to repair them at high service costs. As a customer, I am requesting that my grievances be addressed and resolved.
Customer service did not offer any service different from the authorized service. They don't repair, they don't replace, they don't provide spare parts. They are basically telling us to throw away the 7-year-old Premium package sandwich maker.
