Allianz Insurance Denies Coverage for Child's Diagnosis
Due to a slight weight gain over the past month, my 9-year-old son was diagnosed with an undescended testicle. When the hospital requested coverage from Allianz Insurance, they declined (stating, "We cannot accept the provision request due to the fact that costs related to the diagnosis, treatment, and complications of congenital anomalies and diseases are beyond the coverage of our guarantees."). When I contacted customer service, they stated that they are denying coverage due to the fact that it is a congenital disease, and they asked if they had examined my child. After all, the child is only nine. They stated that regardless of when the diagnosis occurs, it is not covered. They stated that being healthy is required in order to obtain health insurance. I've had comprehensive health insurance for my entire family for 5 years and have never used any of the benefits. I only needed assistance once in 5 years. And they declined... It is unfortunate that Allianz Insurance provides supplemental coverage.
