On December 28, 2024 at 11:43 PM, I booked a home in Nicosia city center, Cyprus through Airbnb for the stay from December 28 to January 2. The payment of $476 was charged to my Ziraat Bank virtual card ending in 8139 with the payment reference number hmnba35sz5.
However, because the host never contacted me, I had to cancel the reservation later that same night.
Both Airbnb and my bank informed me that after the cancellation, the refund would be processed and returned to my card within a maximum of 15 business days. Despite this, as of January 28, about 22 business days have passed, and no refund has appeared in my account.
In the Airbnb system, it states that I should contact my bank using the code hymrvwzx, which the bank can supposedly use to retrieve the necessary information. However, even after providing this code multiple times to Ziraat Bank customer service, the 4–5 representatives I spoke with said they were unfamiliar with this code or this type of inquiry process.
On the Airbnb side, I have also been unable to find a Turkish-speaking support representative. Although phone support is available, there are no Turkish agents, which makes it very difficult for me to clearly explain the issue and follow the process properly.
Since the $476 payment was charged, the reservation was canceled, and more than 22 business days have passed, I request that the refund be returned to my card as soon as possible and that I receive a clear and detailed explanation regarding the delay.
