Airbnb Charged My Cards Without Booking After Invalid Card Error On First Reservation
On August 18, 2025, I attempted to make my very first reservation using the Airbnb mobile app. I entered the details of several cards—my Ziraat Bank credit card, Ziraat Bank debit card, and Yapı Kredi credit card. Each time I tried, I received the same message: “card invalid.” No reservation was created, and I assumed the transaction had failed.
Later, when I checked my account statements, I was shocked to find that $1 was deducted from each card—a total of about ₺300. These charges were taken without any reservation confirmation, without any SMS or PIN approval, and without my consent. This is both unlawful and unacceptable.
To make matters worse, I attempted to reach Airbnb customer support, but I could not find a single contact number for Turkey. The lack of accessible support left me without any way to dispute these unauthorized charges directly.
I demand that Airbnb immediately refund the ₺300 that was unfairly deducted from my cards and provide a clear explanation of why these charges occurred when no reservation was made. Customers should never be billed without confirmation or authorization, especially when the booking fails.
