I Request Refund or Open Ticket for Air Serbia Flight via Obilet After Visa Issues
In November, I purchased four round-trip tickets via Obilet for myself and my family to travel to the U.S. for educational purposes through Air Serbia (PNR: 9JKZM2, route: Istanbul – New York, outbound July 10, 2025, return August 16, 2025). The total cost was ₺88,906.20, not including non-refundable taxes that exceeded ₺10,000.
Unfortunately, due to recent systemic changes in the U.S. visa appointment process, our consular interviews were postponed multiple times. We ultimately lost our ability to travel—not because of any personal fault, but due to these unavoidable external factors.
We immediately contacted Obilet to explore all available options: open ticket, refund, or postponement. All were denied. Three days after my initial request, on July 7, a representative from Obilet called me while I was attending a conference in Malmö. I was told a new travel plan for all four passengers could be arranged, but I couldn’t make such decisions within a few minutes from abroad.
After I returned and followed up, they had no record of that conversation or any viable resolution. I was only told, “Your right is preserved; you can reschedule later,” but nothing was ever processed. Despite repeated calls and long hold times, I received no written or actionable solution.
I’m formally requesting either a full refund or conversion of our tickets into open status. I especially expect the tax portion to be refunded as well. If this is not resolved, I will continue to assert that our situation is valid and deserves immediate correction.
