I Waited Hours at Istanbul Airport as Air Albania TK4649 Check-In Counter Stayed Closed
On July 22, 2025, I arrived at Istanbul Airport early for my Air Albania flight TK4649 to Tirana to avoid missing the flight. Despite arriving with ample time, I ended up waiting for hours just for the check-in counter to open. There was no communication, no updates, and absolutely no Air Albania staff present to assist or explain the delay.
To make matters worse, before the counter even opened, the departure screen falsely displayed “Gate Open,” adding to the confusion. It felt completely disorganized and unprofessional. I walked around the terminal with my luggage, trying to find someone from the airline, but there was no one available to help.
Once I finally boarded, the aircraft itself was shockingly outdated. The cabin felt like an old bus from the 90s—claustrophobic, poorly ventilated, and filled with an unpleasant odor throughout the flight. The overall experience was both stressful and uncomfortable.
Air Albania must improve its ground operations, communication, and aircraft conditions immediately. I expect an apology and reassurance that future passengers won't have to endure such treatment. No one should be left stranded without information or forced to travel in such poorly maintained planes.
