I Received a Suspicious WhatsApp Message from a +91 Number and I’m Seriously Concerned

Today, I received a message on WhatsApp from a number with the country code +91, which I quickly looked up and found belongs to India. I have absolutely no personal or business connections to anyone in India, which made this unsolicited message extremely concerning.

Out of caution, I immediately blocked the number, but I still feel deeply uncomfortable about how this person got my contact information in the first place. I’m worried about the potential misuse of my phone number, and more importantly, about the safety of my account and personal data.

If any of my private information—such as photos, messages, or account credentials—has been accessed or misused, or if someone attempts to open a business, make purchases, or create debt in my name, I will not take any responsibility for the consequences.

I want it on record that I hold WhatsApp fully responsible for the protection of user data. This breach of privacy is unacceptable.
