On Friday, September 12, 2025, at 16:42, I unexpectedly received a one-time WhatsApp video call from a foreign number with the +237 Cameroon code. I have no personal, business, or any other connection to Cameroon. I accidentally answered the call but immediately hung up within seconds, then blocked the number and reported it through the app.
What concerns me is that WhatsApp currently only allows such unknown international calls to be silenced—not fully blocked. From a security standpoint, this is inadequate. Malicious actors can still bypass these limits, and users remain exposed to unwanted or risky calls. I strongly urge WhatsApp to introduce a feature that lets users completely block calls from unknown or foreign numbers, not just mute them.
I also want to make it clear that I do not accept any responsibility for the consequences of this call. The responsibility lies with WhatsApp to improve its protections. I expect immediate action to safeguard user privacy and prevent others from facing the same situation.
