Vrbo Refused to Refund My Canceled Booking Despite Clear Refund Policy
Well inside the refund window indicated on the listing, I canceled a reservation on Vrbo on April 10, 2025—a full three weeks before my planned visit on May 3, 2025. The policy declared unequivocally that I qualified for a complete refund. When I contacted the host, though, they claimed they never received the money and advised me to bring it up with Vrbo. The host already had the money when I spoke with Vrbo's customer care on April 12, 2025. The host ceased responding totally after that, and Vrbo has also gone quiet. To try and get my money back, I had to open a credit card dispute. For visitors, Vrbo provides no security. You can be ignored by hosts; retain your money; nothing occurs. Once everything is settled, I am removing my account.
