VakıfBank Charged ₺195,408 to My Credit Card Without My Consent After Scam Call
I am a geography teacher at Ataköy Anadolu High School in Bakırköy, Istanbul, and I’m currently facing a very difficult situation. On March 21, 2025, I received a call from a phone that appeared to be from VakıfBank. The caller said I had applied for a loan and offered me a ₺100,000 low-interest loan. I truly needed financial support, so I agreed. Within a few minutes, I received an SMS at 3:23 PM from VakıfBank’s “Param” system with a one-time password (OTP): 807399, stating not to share it with anyone.
Just 30 seconds later, ₺195,408 was charged to my VakıfBank credit card—completely without my knowledge or consent.
I immediately reported the incident to customer service and canceled all my cards. On the same day, I went to my branch—VakıfBank İncirli—and explained the situation to customer representative Mr. A**. I clearly stated that the transaction was unauthorized. He informed me that the amount was still in provisional status and should be refunded within 2–3 days. He also asked me to file a police report, which I did, and submitted the report to the bank.
Later, Mr. A** told me the charge had been split into 3 installments. Despite my repeated written and verbal complaints and evidence that this was a scam and I was not responsible for the transaction, VakıfBank has not refunded my money. They even charged interest on the stolen amount.
This amount is nearly four times my salary, and I did not authorize it. I am urgently requesting the immediate and full refund of this unauthorized charge. This is a devastating financial burden that I should not be held accountable for.
Progress
VakıfBank was very insensitive, they did not respond.
