I Got Overcharged by Uber Driver Before the Ride Even Started and Want a Refund
On March 31st at 10:44 a.m., I took an Uber ride using my spouse A**** K.’s account, from Burhaniye to Mecidiyeköy. When I got into the car (a Fiat Egea driven by C**** Bey), I was shocked to see the fare had already started at ₺91. The driver had started the meter 2 minutes before even arriving at my location! I’ve been using Uber for years, and I’ve never experienced anything like this. When I asked him why, he claimed it was to prevent other passengers from requesting a ride while he was on the way. Completely unacceptable.
To make things worse, the final fare included an additional ₺50, which he justified by saying that Uber collects VAT from the passenger. That explanation made no sense at all. On top of that, although the bridge toll was free that day, Uber still charged me ₺47 for a non-existent bridge fee.
This driver had a very low rating (4.40), and I now understand why. It’s clear I’m not the first rider he’s misled. I’m extremely disappointed that Uber allows such behavior on its platform.
I demand a full refund for the extra charges added unfairly to my ride. Uber must take accountability and prevent drivers from scamming honest customers. Please investigate this ride and issue my refund immediately.
