Turkish Airlines Refused to Refund Dog Transport Fee Despite Medical Report
For my one-way Istanbul–Lisbon flight on November 25, I purchased a changeable ticket from Turkish Airlines and paid a total of $472 for the flight. In addition, I paid $207 for the transportation of my dog.
Even though I submitted a valid medical report one week before the flight and my ticket was changeable, the fee I paid for transporting my dog was not refunded. Since I had provided the medical report and did not receive the service at all, I requested that my dog’s transportation fee be transferred to my next flight on the same route on December 2, one week later.
Despite this, on my December 2 flight I was charged another $207 for my dog’s transportation, forcing me to pay twice for the same service. In addition, while purchasing the new ticket for the same route, I was also charged a $81 ticket change fee. I believe this charge was unfair as well, given that I had submitted a medical report.
As a result, I ended up paying a total of $771 just to make a one-way flight from Istanbul to Lisbon. I do not believe this situation is fair or reasonable.
I contacted the call center and the relevant departments multiple times and explained the situation and the medical report I had provided in detail. Despite all these communications, my dog’s transportation fee was not refunded, and my medical report was effectively ignored.
My PNR code is V6LH5L. I am requesting a refund of the $207 dog transportation fee that I never used and was charged for a second time, as well as the $81 ticket change fee that was charged despite my medical report, for a total refund of $299.
If this request is not fulfilled, I would like to state that I will file a complaint with the Consumer Arbitration Committee in accordance with my legal rights.
