Tuborg Refused to Support My Tobacco Shop Despite Our Busy Location
I am the owner of a tobacco shop in Ankara and have been purchasing products from Tuborg for about two years. In 2023, we were given a grant of ₺50,000. When we inquired about what would be offered for 2024 and this year, we were told, "We did not make an annual agreement, we made an agreement with the cash register," and were informed that the deterioration in previous years was not considered a problem. My shop is located on a busy street in Ankara, with a high average and strong brand visibility, and we are positioned right across from a bar—other than that, Tuborg is the only brand present on the street. A rival company has now offered us 15 times more than what Tuborg is offering, just to change the signboard, and we are seriously considering their offer. It's quite ridiculous that your regional manager, Mr. E**, who seems to think he’s clever, believes he can secure long-term loyalty for mere pennies. While Tuborg provides grants of ₺200,000–₺300,000 to stores located on side streets, our high-visibility location has been treated as if it doesn’t matter. We haven’t received any shipments for nearly three weeks—our coolers are empty. We are very close to switching the signboard and converting the entire store to a competitor. The price has already been raised due to your area manager’s initial refusal. If no proper response is given, we will proceed with removing Tuborg from our store and ending your monopoly on this street. You may reach us by phone at 0532-53****.
