Trip.com Refuses Flight Cancellation and Name Change Two Months Before Departure
About 3 months ago, I purchased a round-trip flight ticket from Istanbul to Jeddah for my spouse through Trip.com and paid approximately $382. The flight is still about 2 months away.
Later, when I wanted to buy 3 more tickets for the same flight for myself and my children, I saw that the price had dropped to about $265. I realize that prices can fluctuate; my main complaint is not the price difference.
I contacted Trip.com customer service to cancel the existing ticket, but they rejected my cancellation request. Following this, I requested a name change so another family member could use the ticket, but they denied this request as well.
Even though the flight is roughly 2 months away, they offered no solution or reasonable alternative for either a cancellation or a name change. I got absolutely no concrete results from my conversations with the support team.
I am a returning customer who has used Trip.com before. However, especially after this experience regarding after-sales support, I do not plan on booking through Trip.com ever again.
I will also file a chargeback and dispute this transaction through the bank I used for the payment.
My demand from Trip.com representatives is that they cancel the ticket under reasonable terms or allow a passenger name change while the flight is still about 2 months away.
I advise anyone considering buying a ticket through Trip.com to very carefully review the cancellation, modification, and after-sales support terms before purchasing. This ordeal has caused a severe loss of trust on my part.
