Trip.com Did Not Fully Honor Free Flight Change Rights
Through Trip.com, I purchased a multi-city flight itinerary for two people consisting of the following routes: Ankara–Barcelona on May 6, Barcelona–Paris on May 9, and Paris–Ankara on May 12.
I paid approximately $735 in total for these flights and purchased the tickets around 2–2.5 months in advance so I could organize my entire trip accordingly. I arranged my hotels in Barcelona and Paris, purchased airport transportation and train tickets, and planned my entire journey around these flights.
However, on April 15, 2026, I learned that my May 6 Ankara–Barcelona flight had been canceled.
When I checked the AnadoluJet website, I clearly saw that the flight was canceled and that passengers were entitled to free flight changes or a full refund without deductions.
Afterward, I contacted AnadoluJet customer service, and they informed me that because I had purchased the ticket through Trip.com, all change and refund procedures had to be handled directly by the agency.
In other words, I was explicitly told that my right to a free change or full refund needed to be exercised through Trip.com.
At that time, when I attempted to contact the Trip.com call center, no one was available because it was outside business hours, forcing me to handle the situation through the application itself.
Originally, I had purchased the direct Ankara–Barcelona flight for approximately $330–340 for two people, with a travel duration of around four hours.
Since my flight was canceled but all my hotel reservations, train tickets, and travel plans were already fixed around these exact dates, I had no realistic option to change my itinerary. As a result, I was forced to purchase entirely new tickets for the same travel date.
Through Trip.com, I then purchased Pegasus Airlines connecting flights on the Ankara–Istanbul–Barcelona route. For these replacement tickets, I paid approximately $560 in total for two people.
Out of this amount, only approximately $260 was credited from my original ticket, while I personally had to pay the remaining difference.
As a result, because of a cancellation that was entirely outside my control, I was forced into a longer and less comfortable connecting journey while also paying a significant additional amount out of my own pocket.
I suffered financial loss because of this cancellation despite having absolutely no fault in the matter.
I request that Trip.com fully honor the free change and full refund rights recognized by AnadoluJet and properly apply them to my situation.
In particular, I demand reimbursement of the approximately $260 additional amount I was forced to pay for the replacement flight.
I would also like to emphasize that this last-minute cancellation caused both financial and time-related damages during a carefully planned international trip, and I expect Trip.com to resolve this customer grievance fairly and appropriately.
