TP-Link EX20v AX1800 Modem Has Security Vulnerability with No Firmware Fix

November 7, 2024 1:46 AM167

I have been using the same internet service and TP-Link modem (EX20v AX1800) for exactly 2 years, and the experience has been frustrating. Within the first year, the modem crashed as a Wi-Fi device, which I temporarily fixed by using an access point. However, the issues continue with frequent interruptions, reduced speed, and difficulties opening a port or accessing my network remotely. I recently tried to address these problems by searching for a firmware update, hoping it might help, but I found something much worse. It turns out that this EX20v AX1800 modem, which has been discontinued, has a faulty firmware with a high-risk security vulnerability called "Operating System Command Injection." This vulnerability allows unauthorized access to any connected computer. All of my data is stored on my computer, and this oversight could lead to serious consequences. If my data is compromised, who will be held accountable? This situation is truly unacceptable. TP-Link should at least release a firmware update to address this serious security issue.
