Tesla Removed a Standard Navigation Feature and Put It Behind a Subscription
I own a 2025 model Tesla Juniper, and until recently, the navigation system included a satellite mode feature that I was able to use free of charge. However, for approximately the last two months, Tesla has removed this feature from the standard navigation system and converted it into a paid monthly service. I do not believe it is fair or reasonable for a feature that was previously included as a normal part of the navigation experience — and not a luxury add-on — to suddenly become subscription-based afterward.
After noticing this change, I contacted Tesla customer service to express my concerns and ask for clarification. Unfortunately, despite reaching out, I have still not received any response or feedback regarding the issue. Both the decision to place an existing feature behind a paywall without clear prior communication and the complete lack of customer support response have been extremely disappointing.
I request that Tesla restore the satellite mode feature as a free component of the navigation system, or at the very least continue providing it free of charge for existing customers who originally purchased the vehicle with access to this functionality. I also expect a clear and transparent explanation regarding why this feature was changed to a paid service.
