Temu Did Not Refund the Import Tax When I Returned My Order

On September 5, 2025, I ordered a DSO152 oscilloscope from Temu. The product description on the website was confusing and misleading, using information scrolling to create the impression that certain features, which did not belong to this model, were part of it. As a result, I was misled into buying the lowest model, the DSO152, instead of the DSO510 I actually wanted. I realized the mistake quickly and tried to cancel on September 6, but since shipping had already started, my cancellation was rejected and I had to wait for delivery. After the product arrived on September 10, I immediately contacted Temu support to request a return without even opening the original package. I repeatedly asked whether the import tax would be refunded, but never received a clear answer—only vague assurances. Trusting their responses, I returned the item on September 12 via DHL. Shortly after, I received a message saying my refund had been issued, but my account showed that the process would take 5–14 business days. Most importantly, the information that the import tax would never be refunded—something not clearly stated anywhere before—was only revealed at the end of the return process. In the end, out of the ₺2,100 I paid (₺1,330 product price + ₺770 tax), only ₺1,330 was refunded and the ₺770 tax was not returned. Despite returning the unopened product, not refunding the import tax and only revealing this after the process left me feeling misled and mistreated. I expect Temu to either refund me the full amount or send the product back to me without any additional cost. I request that this mistrust and grievance be resolved.
