On December 23, 2024, I booked a ticket for the 19:10 Düsseldorf-Ankara SunExpress flight. Although this was my first experience with the airline, I trusted its reputation as a corporate and reliable company. However, the experience was far from satisfactory.
Upon arriving at the airport, I encountered an incredibly long line. For an airline with such frequent flights, there should be more counters available. Families with children were visibly exhausted from waiting. The delay caused me to miss my tax-free refund process as I rushed to avoid being late.
After finally boarding, I noticed several empty seats at the back of the plane, yet the flight did not depart on time. The pilot announced that three passengers had failed to board, and their luggage needed to be removed for safety reasons. While this explanation made sense initially, it turned out to be inaccurate. Around 10-15 minutes later, approximately 15 additional passengers boarded the plane.
This lack of accurate communication with passengers was deeply frustrating. It felt disrespectful to be given misleading information about the delay. For a company of SunExpress's stature, such mismanagement and poor communication are unacceptable. This was a disappointing experience, and I will avoid flying with SunExpress in the future unless absolutely necessary.
