Subway Employee Overheard Insulting Customer
On September 22, 2026 at around 6:19 p.m., I visited the Subway located at 19100 James Couzens, Detroit, MI 48235. The store doors were locked and they were only serving drive-thru customers, stating they were short-staffed. When I got to the speaker to place my order, I was told they were only accepting online orders, which explained why several cars in front of me left without ordering. I then followed their instruction and placed an online order. My order number is F981512C-68. While I was still at the drive-thru, the female employee forgot to turn off her microphone, and I clearly heard her talking to her male coworker about me in a very unprofessional and disrespectful way. She said she had already told me they were only doing online orders, that she was busy and did not feel like being bothered, that I was “trying to work” her, and continued complaining about the fact that I did not leave like the other customers. This behavior was extremely rude and unprofessional, and it made me feel disrespected as a customer. I also believe this attitude is causing Subway to lose business, and I can only imagine how many customers may have experienced similar treatment. I have already shared this experience on my social media platforms and I will not be returning to this Subway location. I request that this incident be taken seriously and that the staff member involved be properly coached or disciplined so that other customers do not go through the same experience in the future.
