I purchased a fully automatic Smeg espresso machine on August 28, 2023. By December, it began showing a “waste container full” error despite being empty. After being referred to a technical service by Smeg, I was informed that a part replacement was needed. I waited over a month for the part to arrive from abroad, only to be told after the replacement that the issue persisted. The service then consulted with Smeg’s Turkey representative, Boğaziçi İthalat, who advised resetting the machine, claiming it was a non-technical process only they could perform.
This entire ordeal took two months, during which I repeatedly explained my situation to different representatives without resolution. Despite my request for a replacement under warranty, I was informed that the machine couldn’t be replaced due to its high price and limited availability. After finally receiving the machine in March, within a month, it started giving the same error and a new “beans empty” alert while fully loaded. Boğaziçi İthalat once again declined to replace the machine, instead directing me to a service center in Bağcılar.
It’s clear that Smeg’s Turkey representative is only offering temporary fixes without addressing the core issue. I expect Smeg to uphold its warranty and replace this machine, as it has shown multiple faults within the first year.
