I Was Overcharged by Qatar Airways for Baggage Due to Booking System Failure
I’m submitting this complaint regarding a AUD 1,090 excess baggage fee I was forced to pay for my 3-meter board bag, which I was not allowed to pre-purchase online or check in as sports equipment. I booked my flight directly through Qatar Airways, but your system would not let me add extra baggage via “Manage My Booking.” I contacted your support team via chat, and they told me it was because my itinerary involved Virgin Australia and Qatar Airways, and that I had to handle baggage at the counter. However, both flights were operated by Qatar Airways, and at the airport I was told I could not check the board bag as sports equipment and had to pay per kilo over 25 kg—leading to this excessive charge. I feel misled and overcharged. I request a **partial refund** of the difference between what I paid and what I would have paid had I been allowed to book baggage properly in advance.
