Pegasus Charged Me for Overweight Cabin Baggage on My Flight

September 7, 2025 7:48 PM76

On 07.09.2025, during Pegasus flight PC5305 from Izmir to Düsseldorf, I was charged ₺2,430 by credit card for exceeding my 3-kilogram cabin baggage allowance by only 2 kilograms. The ground staff handling the bags spoke in a disrespectful and condescending manner, which made the experience unpleasant. I was also told to remove my laptop and water bottle from my baggage or check it in, which I found unreasonable and risky for my electronics. My baggage dimensions fully complied with cabin standards, and I have never faced such practices with other airlines. Moreover, not all passengers’ bags were weighed—only a few, including mine, were selectively checked, which created a sense of inconsistency and unfair treatment. I felt particularly uneasy because my German residence permit was visible, which gave me the impression of being singled out and discriminated against. While my baggage met size requirements, I was charged solely due to weight in a way that seemed selective and unjust. Adding to this, I wanted to pay in euros, but no exchange rate information was provided, and payment was accepted only in ₺. Although I did not file a complaint at the airport or with Pegasus customer service at the time, this was the first time I experienced such treatment, and it left me feeling uncomfortable throughout the journey. No loss or damage occurred to my baggage, but I strongly believe such practices should not happen again. Therefore, I request that this incident be investigated, that I receive a clear explanation, a refund of the fee charged, and a formal apology. My booking reference / PNR can be provided upon request.
