I own an Opel Crossland and purchased it from the original owner on February 29, 2024. At the time of purchase, the car had 3,400 km on it and was still under warranty. I later learned that the car hadn't had its scheduled service, so I took it to the Trabzon Vardallar Service Center for maintenance.
Recently, I noticed a change in the engine noise and took the car back to the same service center on May 22, 2024. After their inspection, they informed me that the engine had a defect and needed to be replaced, assuring me that a replacement vehicle would be provided during the repair period.
However, after waiting two days for a replacement vehicle, I was told on Friday, May 24, that my warranty was void because I had delayed the service by seven months and that I would have to cover the repair costs myself. They explained the engine issue as the presence of aluminum particles in the motor oil.
Firstly, if there were aluminum particles in the motor oil, why wasn’t this detected during the initial service? Considering the high cost I paid for the service, I expected a more thorough inspection. If the particles weren't present then, it’s unreasonable to link the delayed oil change to the subsequent engine failure. Additionally, it doesn't make sense that a motor failure could occur in a car with just 5,000 km due to a slightly delayed oil change.
A reputable brand should not only produce quality products but also stand behind them. I feel clearly wronged in this situation and demand that my engine be replaced under warranty without the need for legal action. I hope this issue can be resolved promptly.
