Nissan Dismissed My Warranty Claim for Cracked Windshield on My New Qashqai
On October 12, 2024, after a test drive of a Qashqai at the Antalya Nissan Dealer, I made a down payment for the vehicle. I paid for extra services like window tinting, PPF coating, and ceramic coating. Once all payments were completed, I received the car with 16 km on it on October 23, 2024. Naturally, you handle the car with extreme care when you spend this much money. However, after just 100 km, on October 29, 2024, when I got into the car in the parking lot, I noticed a crack on the front windshield, starting from the rearview mirror and extending to the edge. On October 30, 2024, I took the car to Balaban's service center. They told me that the glass experts would be available on Friday, so they couldn't do anything immediately. They claimed the crack appeared to be caused by an external factor, which wouldn’t be covered under warranty. The warranty representative said, “Yes, it's not a stone mark, but something caused it to crack,” without providing further explanation. When I brought the car back to the service center on November 1, 2024, I was informed the glass expert would not be available this week and to return the following week. On November 7, 2024, I went back and showed it to the expert, who simply said it was caused by an external factor and dismissed it, saying it wouldn’t be covered under warranty. I've been driving for 20 years, and I’ve never had a windshield crack, but the windshield of this brand-new car cracked in just six days, which has really soured my experience with the vehicle. It could indeed be due to an external impact, but this car spent more time at the dealership than with me and was taken outside for ceramic coating and window tinting. How can they be sure that a micro-level crack from an impact during this process didn’t expand due to vibrations after just 3–4 days of use? They quickly brushed it off as my responsibility. So, it seems warranties are just meaningless; then they even have the nerve to suggest paying extra to extend the warranty by three years. I am absolutely certain that my car didn’t sustain any impact over those six days, but when a company prioritizes its own interests over customer satisfaction, this is what happens. I’m writing this to advise others: even if you’re buying a brand-new car, make sure to take it to an independent inspection, or you’ll end up dealing with issues like I am. I will continue to pursue my rights through legal channels with the Consumer Arbitration Board. Think twice before buying a Nissan; they’re attentive when selling the car but dismissive when a complaint arises.
