McAfee Charged More Than Advertised for Total Protection Subscription
On January 3, 2026, I purchased the “McAfee Total Protection – 5 Devices, 1 Year” package through McAfee Turkey using my debit card. During the purchase process, the screen clearly stated that $30 would be charged. However, $31 was deducted from my bank account. No explanation was provided regarding the reason for this price difference.
In addition, while activating the package, I was repeatedly directed to purchase additional paid add-on packages in order to receive “full protection.” I did not purchase any of these extra packages. However, I can now see that the main package I purchased does not provide the protections advertised in its promotion, and the level of protection is insufficient. The product does not meet the coverage promised at the time of purchase.
Because of these issues, I tried to get support through the chatbot available in the system. I was given an international phone number starting with 00800, but I was unable to reach a customer service representative through that number. I also cannot find any phone number, email address, or other contact channel that I can access from Turkey.
Due to both the unexplained price difference and the fact that the product does not deliver the promised protection, I am requesting the cancellation of my entire subscription and a full refund of the total amount charged. Otherwise, I would like to state that I am considering pursuing legal action by exercising my legal rights.
