I recently purchased a Maybelline New York mascara—the same one I’ve used before and loved. However, when I opened this new one, I immediately noticed that the packaging looked completely different from what I’ve seen in the past. I know what the original looks like, and this one raised red flags right away. The tube feels cheaper, the print quality is off, and even the scent of the product is not what I’m used to.
Now I’m left wondering if I’ve been sold a counterfeit product. I haven’t used it yet because I’m afraid of having an allergic reaction—this is going directly near my eyes, after all. I don’t want to risk my health just because of a brand’s lack of quality control or poor distribution oversight.
If this is an updated design, why isn’t it clearly communicated on the packaging or website? And if it’s not authentic, why is it being sold through trusted platforms? I’m asking Maybelline to clarify whether the packaging has changed and to ensure consumers are not being misled. I also expect a full refund or exchange if this turns out to be a fake.
