I own a 2017 Kia, and recently, while the car was parked and exposed to sunlight, the sunroof suddenly exploded without any external impact. I immediately contacted the authorized service, and they informed me that the replacement part would arrive in nearly two months. Worse, they stated that the price I was quoted today would likely double by the time the part arrives. I also called every Kia service across Turkey, but none had this part in stock. I searched extensively for original parts in secondhand markets, but even then, I couldn’t find one. Eventually, I was forced to install a non-original (aftermarket) sunroof at a cost higher than the original part’s price.
My concerns are clear:
What if the sunroof had shattered while driving, potentially causing a major accident?
Why can’t I find a spare part for a widely sold vehicle, while parts for much rarer cars are easily available?
I don’t have a closed garage, and I live in a neighborhood with frequent car theft. Where am I supposed to keep my car for two months without a sunroof?
Most importantly, why am I personally bearing the financial burden for what seems to be a manufacturing defect, and suffering from the inconvenience it caused?
I demand that Kia supply me with the original sunroof part as soon as it becomes available and replace my temporary aftermarket sunroof free of charge. I have already paid for other chronic issues like the faulty flywheel and fuel pump out of pocket. This time, Kia should stand behind its product and resolve this issue at no further cost to me. I am struggling to hold back from never trusting the Kia brand again. Please take full responsibility and provide the support your customers deserve.
