I Can’t Charge My Kia EV9 via AC for Over a Month Due to a Software Issue

Hello everyone, I’m the owner of a Kia EV9, and I’m extremely disappointed in the car’s charging performance, especially during long-distance travel. I purchased a 22 kW three-phase AC charger for home use, expecting it to fully utilize the vehicle’s capacity. However, my EV9 won’t charge beyond 11 kW on AC, which was already disappointing. Things got worse when I ventured out on a long trip.
Every time I tried using DC fast chargers rated between 120–180 kW, the car threw up charging errors and failed to charge. After several failed attempts, I realized that the car consistently malfunctions on chargers above 80 kW. If I keep it below 80 kW—say at 60 or 11 kW—there’s no issue. But what’s the point of owning a modern EV if it can’t handle highway charging stations, which mostly offer 120 kW and above?
I even stopped at the Kia authorized service in İzmir on the way, hoping they could fix the issue. Unfortunately, they couldn’t diagnose the problem, only suggesting a software update that might help—something I couldn’t wait around for during my travels.
This is not what I signed up for when investing in a top-tier electric vehicle. Kia needs to take immediate action to fix this widespread charging issue via a firmware update or hardware replacement. EV9 owners deserve reliable fast charging, especially when traveling long distances.

This issue caused serious disappointment and frustration. The vehicle was towed to the service center...

I purchased a brand new 2025 Kia EV6 Elegance Standard Range electric vehicle with the expectation—based on Kia’s own specifications—that it would offer a city range of 644 km and a combined range of 428 km per full charge. These claims were key factors in my decision to buy the car. Kia is clearly ...

I purchased a Kia EV3, expecting a reliable electric vehicle experience. However, just seven days after purchase, I encountered a serious heating system malfunction. I immediately took the car to the authorized service center, where I was informed that the heater unit was defective and needed to be ...

I purchased a brand-new Kia EV3, and shockingly, the vehicle developed an ICCU (Integrated Charging Control Unit) failure after driving only 400 kilometers. This is completely unacceptable for a newly purchased electric car. My vehicle has now been in the service center for 20 days, and I still have...
