As a conscious user, I had been regularly lowering my credit card limit each month, maintaining it around ₺49,000. The bank argues that customers have already agreed to automatic limit increases, but these permissions are buried deep within mobile or online banking menus, making them hard to find or disable. Additionally, during regular use, the app consistently promotes “increase limit” and “approve” buttons, subtly pressuring users to accept higher limits. This undermines financial discipline, especially for students or individuals without stable income, putting them at serious risk of falling into debt. Credit card limits should be based on actual income, repayment ability, and user demand—not on hidden settings and aggressive design tactics. Automatic increases handled this way are irresponsible, potentially harmful, and far from transparent. I urge İş Bank to review this practice and act in line with ethical banking principles and customer protection.
