I Was Charged an Unfair Annual Fee on My Low Limit Credit Card by Akbank
Akbank charged a ₺1,150 annual fee on my credit card with a ₺5,000 limit. This fee amounts to nearly a quarter of the card's total limit, and I would like a clear explanation of what service justifies such a high charge. At a time when many people in Turkey are struggling to cover basic living expenses, deducting this amount without prior notice is unacceptable. It’s neither ethical nor in line with customer satisfaction. The bank already earns commissions on every transaction—so what is the reason behind this additional fee? While many banks charge nothing or only symbolic amounts for annual fees, Akbank is applying an amount that is nearly as high as the credit limit itself. I demand a full refund of this charge. Otherwise, I will cancel my card and pursue all legal options, including filing a complaint with the Consumer Arbitration Board. Gaining a customer is difficult, but losing one is easy—please act accordingly.
