iPhone 15 Shut Down Randomly, Apple Wrongly Claimed Liquid Damage And Refused Warranty
While using my iPhone 15, the device suddenly froze and shut down. I brought it to the Apple Akasya store, where they immediately claimed it had liquid damage—even though they had not even opened the device. I objected and requested further inspection twice, but each time the same response was given.
Later, I sent the phone to an Apple authorized repair service, where they confirmed there was no liquid damage. Instead, they explained that the IMEI/serial number could not be read due to a charging port issue, and therefore no repair could be processed. Finally, I took the device to a private repair company (fppro), where it was discovered that the charging port and several integrated components were defective, caused by a power imbalance. In other words, what Apple dismissed as “liquid contact” was actually a manufacturing fault.
This entire ordeal dragged on for 3–4 weeks. In the meantime, I was forced to pay a high repair fee out of pocket. I originally purchased the phone in February 2024 for ₺39,999 (excluding VAT), and although the device was still under warranty until February 2026, Apple refused to honor it. Instead, they offered me a ₺42,000 replacement cost—despite the fact that the issue stemmed from a product defect.
Because Apple repeatedly insisted on “liquid damage” without even opening the device and offered no real solution, I had to repair the phone externally, which voided my warranty. I also had prior issues with the phone freezing and restarting on its own.
I feel completely wronged by this experience. I demand either a full replacement of my device or a refund of its purchase price. If Apple fails to resolve this matter, I will escalate my case to the Consumer Arbitration Board.
