Hyundai Elantra Brake Disc Vibration Reoccurs Twice in 35K KM Despite Warranty

In 2021, we purchased two Hyundai Elantra vehicles—one for myself and one for my aunt. About a year after purchase, both cars developed a severe brake disc vibration issue. When braking, the vehicle would shake violently.

I took my car to the Hyundai Nev Oto authorized service center. They told me the discs might have been exposed to water while hot. Since I was unsure, I agreed to have the discs replaced. However, after only 35,000 km of usage, the same issue has returned. The same problem also occurred with my aunt’s vehicle.

We have been very careful in our driving, never using the brakes with worn-out pads, and we avoided exposing the discs to water. Yet the vibration issue has reappeared. My car has been experiencing this problem again for the past 1–2 months, and it is currently at the service center. Despite the vehicle being under warranty, I was asked to pay a high fee of ₺16,000.

I believe it is not normal to have to replace the brake discs twice in such a short period, and I consider this a chronic issue with the vehicle. Furthermore, even after messaging Hyundai’s official Instagram account, I received no response.

My car’s license plate is 34 EYR 981, and all maintenance and service records are available at the authorized service center. The problem is especially noticeable when driving above 100 km/h.

My request is that this chronic brake disc issue be resolved free of charge under warranty, and that a permanent solution be provided so that I do not encounter the same problem again.

We purchased our 2021 model Hyundai Elantra brand new. Our vehicle currently has 95,000 km. Approximately every 30,000 km, the front brake discs experience a warping problem.

During the first malfunction, the authorized service stated that the issue might be user-related, and since we lacked technical knowledge, we paid for the disc replacement. However, the recurrence of the same malfunction shortly after clearly shows that the problem is not due to user error, but rather a chronic or manufacturing defect.

We reported this situation to our service center, requesting it be evaluated under warranty, but our request was denied. Subsequently, we filed an official complaint with Hyundai Motor Turkey Customer Services. However, it has been about a month and we have not received any response.

Our vehicle is a disabled vehicle, and due to this malfunction, we hesitate even to take our patient to the hospital. This recurring issue is causing both grievance and financial loss for us.

I have been experiencing a brake disc problem in my 2021 model Hyundai Elantra for about 1-2 months. When I drive long distances and at high speeds, especially when the weather is hot, the car shakes violently when I press the brakes. When this problem first appeared, the brake disc was replaced at my expense. However, the same malfunction recurred in a short time. It is unacceptable for the same problem to occur in such a short time in a vehicle that is still under warranty. In addition, another vehicle of the same model in our family has a similar problem; therefore, we believe this is a chronic defect.

When the problem occurred, I contacted the authorized service and also filed a complaint through Hyundai Motor Turkey. However, my application still appears to be under review and I have not received any response.

My vehicle's license plate: 34 eyr 981, chassis number: KMHLN41EEMU269863.

Our request from you is for the necessary technical inspection regarding this chronic brake disc problem to be completed urgently, for the malfunction to be repaired free of charge under warranty, and for us to be contacted promptly. Otherwise, please be informed that we will apply to the Consumer Arbitration Committee and legal authorities to resolve our grievance.
