Huawei MateBook 14 Hinge Failure: A Costly Design Flaw Ignored by Warranty

I purchased my Huawei MateBook 14 less than a year ago. From the very beginning, I noticed that the hinge area made a creaking noise. When I contacted the service center, they assured me that it was not an issue. Two days ago, while watching a movie, I decided to close my laptop. As I was doing so, the hinge suddenly detached, producing a loud crack—it got stuck between the keyboard and the screen, resulting in a broken display. When I took it to the service center, they informed me that this damage would not be covered under warranty under any circumstances. They suggested that I first contact customer service and express my dissatisfaction in hopes that they might consider covering it. I want to warn anyone considering purchasing this model. This is clearly a design flaw, as you can find numerous similar complaints online. Unfortunately, Huawei’s customer service follows a familiar pattern: they will call you repeatedly, making it seem like they are closely following up on your issue. However, at the end of the day, all you will have is a series of pointless conversations—with no real solution. Despite handling my laptop with extreme care (storing it in a soft protective case, using a voltage-regulated power source, and never subjecting it to any impact), I was told that the damage resulted from “improper use” and was asked to pay ₺7,000 for repairs. In a country where electronic devices are increasingly expensive, it is unreasonable to expect consumers to bear such repair costs due to manufacturing flaws. So, think twice before investing in this brand’s products. I hope this review helps others make an informed decision. Best regards.
