I am raising a complaint regarding ongoing unauthorized deductions by the Hint Soulmate app from my Capitec Bank account. I never clearly agreed to such high monthly charges and I was not made aware that money would continue to be deducted every month at these amounts. The first deduction was in December for around R500. In the following month another amount of about R300–R400 was taken, and now for this month almost R500 is due to be taken again. These repeated deductions are putting me under serious financial pressure, as I earn a minimum salary and I am the only breadwinner looking after my sick mother. I have tried to cancel through the app but there is no clear option for cancellations. I have also sent an email requesting cancellation, but I have not received any reply. I feel it is unfair and misleading that it is so easy to deduct money but so difficult or impossible to cancel. I request that my Hint Soulmate subscription be cancelled immediately and that any future deductions from my Capitec account be blocked. I also ask for at least a partial refund of the amounts already taken, after deducting any reasonable cancellation fee if there is one. I would like written confirmation that my account has been cancelled and that no more money will be taken from my account.
