I Opened a 10x Short on Gate.io and Got Liquidated Like It Was 100x

I opened what should have been a safe 10x-leveraged short position on Gate.io, fully aware that my liquidation price would sit roughly 8–10 % above my entry. Instead, the moment the coin’s price nudged only a few percent higher, the entire position was wiped out—exactly as if I’d recklessly used 100x leverage. The proof isn’t just in my account history; I saved screenshots that show the margin settings and the absurdly premature liquidation point side by side.
Since then I’ve contacted Gate.io support multiple times, supplying every detail they asked for—order ID, timestamps, margin settings, the works. All I’ve received in return are canned replies, endless transfers between agents, and radio silence. No real investigation, no refund, no explanation of how a 10x trade can magically behave like a 100x bet.
If a ₺3,000-equivalent test trade can be wiped out by a software glitch or hidden fee structure, imagine what happens to users trading with far larger balances. Gate.io must immediately audit this liquidation error, reimburse the lost funds, and publish a transparent fix. Until then, traders’ money—and trust—remain at risk.
