Clinique Employee Spoke Rudely While Testing Product at Boyner Cevahir Store
On November 28, 2025, I was looking at products at the Clinique stand inside the Boyner store at Cevahir Mall. Around 9:40–9:45 p.m., while no one was at the counter, I saw a man call out to a female employee by name. Shortly after, a woman appeared next to me. She said “Welcome,” and then began standing uncomfortably close as I browsed.
Since Clinique was a brand I had been considering purchasing from, I picked up a tester cream, smelled it, and then wanted to test the texture because I have sensitive skin. I lightly touched the cream with my fingertip.
At that moment, the employee said, “Um, we don’t stick our nails in there.” Her tone toward a paying adult customer was extremely inappropriate and made me very uncomfortable. I told her—and showed her—that I used my fingertip, not my nail. Despite this, she insisted I should have used the applicator stick, even though she wasn’t even in a position to see what I had done. It makes me question why, if hygiene is truly a priority, the communication style they choose is so disrespectful.
Additionally, the employee did not attempt to explain or promote the product. She simply stood over me in a tense and uncomfortable way, waiting for me to speak first, which completely eliminated any desire I had to shop. Her tone and her approach reflected serious deficiencies in basic customer service and professional communication.
Due to this experience, I request that the staff member be formally warned and that Clinique ensure employees receive proper training on customer interaction and product presentation.
