While trying to update my phone number on my Gate.io account, I ended up losing both my account access and my funds. I went to the security settings in the profile section and selected the option to remove my registered phone number. The system asked me to complete face verification, which I successfully did. Immediately after that, I was automatically logged out of my account.
I then received an email to my registered address stating that my KYC verification had been completed and that I needed to log back into my account. However, when I tried to log in, I could no longer access my existing account. It appeared as if the account associated with my registered email and phone number had completely disappeared. When I attempted to log in again using the same email address, the system automatically created a new account, and I was unable to access the balance from my previous account.
My old account contained approximately $45 USD, and the newly created account now shows no balance at all. I contacted Gate.io support via email. Even though I received an email confirming that my KYC verification was completed, I replied with a detailed explanation of the issue. However, I still have not received any response.
In my opinion, it is extremely unsafe and unacceptable for an account that has completed KYC verification and received email confirmation to simply disappear, and for a new account to be created using the same email address. I am requesting that my original account be identified and reactivated, that the approximately $45 USD balance it contained be fully returned to me, and that I be provided with a clear, written explanation of what happened during this process.
