Fly Dubai charged additional fees at baggage check-in. How can I dispute unjustified charges?

If you were unexpectedly charged additional fees during baggage check-in that were not stated in your booking conditions, this is a valid reason to dispute them.

Such charges can arise for various reasons, but it’s important to distinguish between legitimate fees and cases where the airline made a mistake or provided misleading information.

Compare your booking conditions. Review your booking confirmation and ticket: how much baggage was included, the weight and size limits, and which fees should already have been covered.

Additional charges often occur due to overweight baggage, extra bags, or an incorrect fare type—but if you clearly complied with the stated conditions, these fees should not have been applied.

Ask Fly Dubai staff for clarification. At the check-in counter or through customer support, ask why the additional charge was applied. Request a written explanation or a printed breakdown of the fees.

If staff say “the system calculated it automatically,” this does not remove their obligation to explain and justify every charge.

File a written dispute. Submit a request to the airline demanding that they:

recalculate the total cost based on the fare rules stated at the time of purchase;

refund any overcharged amounts;

provide a clear explanation of how the fees were calculated.

Keep all documents. Payment receipts for baggage, your itinerary receipt, and booking confirmation will all be useful when disputing the charges.

If Fly Dubai ignores your request, refuses to recalculate, or responds with “that’s just how the system works” while the charges are clearly unjustified, be sure to document the situation on Xolvie.

A public complaint helps draw the airline’s attention to your case and increases the chances of reaching a fair resolution.
