Scammers Posing as FlixBus Drivers in Vienna Misdirect Passengers and Charge €10 for a Ride
On May 8, 2026, I purchased a FlixBus ticket (PNR 3350515526) to travel from Vienna to Prague. My ticket clearly stated "Vienna Central Bus Station" as the departure point, with a departure time of 6:30 PM. We arrived at the station at 5:30 PM, but by 6:15 PM there was still no bus in sight and we could not get any information from anyone.
At that point, individuals who identified themselves as FlixBus drivers approached us and told us we were at the wrong station, offering to take us to the correct one for €10. We had no choice but to accept and get in their vehicle. They drove us from Erdberg station toward Stadthalle and dropped us off there. When we asked the staff at that location, we were told no such bus departed from there either. We later found out that our bus actually left from Erdberg station — it only passed through without stopping inside the terminal. By that point, we had already missed our bus entirely.
With no other option, I had to purchase train tickets to get to Prague. On top of all of this chaos and confusion, my friend had her wallet stolen during the ordeal, adding yet another layer of stress to an already overwhelming situation. As two women traveling alone, we suffered serious harm — both financially and emotionally — were given no information whatsoever, and were essentially abandoned. I believe the entire sequence of events can be verified through security camera footage at and around the station.
I am demanding that FlixBus reimburse me for the train tickets I was forced to buy as a direct result of this incident, issue a formal apology for what we went through, and review the security camera footage to identify the individuals who misdirected us so that appropriate action can be taken against them. I urge that this matter be investigated seriously to prevent other passengers from being put through the same experience.
