I made a reservation through Hotels.com for travel dates July 20, 2024, to July 25, 2024, under travel plan number 72056939037189. Initially, I intended to book for two people, but the reservation was automatically reduced to one guest after payment. I only realized this mistake after making the payment.
After struggling for four hours to contact someone through their online platform, I eventually spoke to an unhelpful representative. I was informed that to change the reservation to accommodate two people in the same room, I would incur a penalty of ₺9,245. When I contacted Club Beyy Resort directly, they clarified that changing the dates or reducing the number of guests should not have incurred a penalty. However, as they did not provide a precise amount for the difference, I had no choice but to pay the extra charge.
Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue, Hotels.com repeatedly asked for different pieces of information and failed to address my concern effectively. I am now preparing to file a complaint with the Consumer Arbitration Committee. I want to warn others that when booking through Expedia-affiliated companies, you may face difficulties reaching real people and could experience prolonged, frustrating interactions with their virtual support. The actual charge was ₺69,552, far exceeding what was originally stated.
