DJI Neo Crashed Into a Stream During Boomerang Mode Due to an Unexpected Descent

I want to share the situation and the hardship I've experienced regarding my DJI Neo device, which was referred to the Karacasulu authorized service center.

I purchased my DJI Neo device on 06/19/2026 from the BİM Birleşik Mağazalar A.Ş. Gümüşhane Hasanbey branch. I carefully reviewed the product's user manual and carried out my first flights, successfully performing several trouble-free flights, including in "Boomerang" mode. On 06/27/2026, again in that same "Boomerang" mode, I launched the drone from my hand, just as I had done many times before. As part of how this mode is supposed to work, the device was supposed to safely return to the point where it took off — meaning back to my hand — but instead, during the flight, it unexpectedly descended on its own and landed in the stream below.

Right after the incident, I immediately pulled the device out of the water, detached the battery from the body right away to cut off the electrical current, carefully dried the device, and left it sealed in its box with the original silica gel packet for 2 days. Despite this, when I tried it after those 2 days, I found that the device wouldn't turn on at all and was completely non-functional. Since the device had flown stably and without issue in this same mode many times before, I believe that its unexpected, uncommanded descent into the stream during this last flight was entirely due to a software or system-level malfunction.

I sent the device to Karacasulu authorized service on 06/30/2026. Today, I received a message stating, "Dear Fatih Kan, the inspection process for your device has been completed. Since the identified issue falls outside the scope of warranty coverage, you will be informed about the repair and service details as soon as possible." I absolutely do not accept this situation — where the product clearly experienced a software issue — being treated as user error, and I find this approach completely wrong.

I don't want to be left at a disadvantage because of this malfunction, which I believe was entirely caused by the manufacturer or the software. I'm requesting that my device be repaired free of charge under warranty, or if a technical repair isn't possible, that it be replaced with a new unit. I want to specifically state that otherwise, I will exercise all of my legal rights to the fullest extent.
